MemoryLink is an easy to use hand-held audio player containing recorded hymns, choruses, Bible verses and prayers from the childhood memories of Australian Seniors.
We all know the difficulties and anguish experienced when ageing people start losing their memories.
However, research shows that memories from younger days are often retained, especially music memories, even when a person suffers dementia. They can be reawakened using music and other material from those days.
These memories often provide comfort, joy and hope to people with memory loss, and give encouragement to their carers.

The MemoryLink Team

MemoryLink came about as the result of observing a church friend who sang the old hymns with great joy even though she had advanced dementia.
This inspired a group of devoted Christians from Pennant Hills Uniting Church led by Dr Fenton Sharpe to produce and distribute MemoryLink
.

The National Survey

The MemoryLink team undertook an Australian-wide research survey to compile the most popular and memorable hymns and sacred songs from the mid 1900’s that would best resonate with elderly Australians.
The result is a collection of 30 Hymns, 30 Children’s songs and 40 short meditations including 61 Bible readings and 12 prayers. It plays for 8 hours.

The Choirs

The hymns were recorded in the St Mark’s Anglican Church at Pennant Hills by a local community choir under the musical direction of Dr Paul Whiting.
The children’s songs were performed by children mainly from the Uniting Church Scripture class at Pennant Hills Public School.
They were designed to sound like the congregational and Sunday School singing that elderly people experienced in their childhood.
